The President of the Ghana Football Association has charged the senior national soccer team ‘The Black Stars of Ghana’ to shine in the game against Zimbabwe in their 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Cape Coast.
The game which is scheduled to be played in the nation’s former capital, Cape Coast will see the Warriors from Zimbabwe to battle the Black Stars of Ghana in Matchday 3 in the ongoing Africa World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana and Ethiopia are behind South Africa’s 4 points with both having 3 points whilst Zimbabwe having 1 point.
The GFA’s spirit and desire of qualifying for the upcoming World Cup are very high but the challenges from the Bafana Bafana is tough with their win over Ghana.
Ghana missed the 2018 World Cup held in Russia but was in an action during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Ghana’s performance in the World Cup 2010 was stunning but reaching the semi-final was denied in the penalty shootout after drawing to Uruguay in the entire 90minutes and additional 30minutes as an extra time of the game in the quarter-final stage but many Ghanaians blames Asamoah Gyan and sometimes Luiz Alberto Suarez as the source of Ghana’s defeat.
In one on one meetings with the team ahead of their Match Day 3 qualifiers clash against Zimbabwe Kurt E.S Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association charged the players to put a magnificent performance which may grant them the hope of qualifying for the upcoming Mundial.
“I remember one of the few things that I said in the early days was that ‘together as a unit we will win’. If it is that we have to play as a team and win, tomorrow is the best opportunity.
“Team work wins”. He said.
“Tomorrow against Zimbabwe, I have absolutely confidence in this squad. I am absolutely confidence in your ability to fight and to make ourselves and Ghana proud.
“I remember in Alisa Hotel in Accra that I challenged each and everyone of us to behave like big players and remember saying to each one of you that if you are not a big player this is the door. It was a challenge and I believe that if each one of us here have the ability to rise up the occasion and shine tomorrow because we have big talents and big players and we are Ghana.
“Yet we have an opponent confronting us tomorrow but we are Ghanan. We are Ghana. He retreiterate.
“Because we have big talents we should and we must belong to that platform with all the best in the football world with assembling. Am talking about the world cup and the only way to get that is if we win our games and we must win tomorrow, I believe we will win tomorrow. We will win because I see a group of absolutely dedicated players who want to make history for themselves and their country. I can see it from Owusu to Mensah, Dede, the head coach, and everybody. I see the level of your dedication. I see how much you have comported yourselves during this time here on Cape Coast. I see the desire to win. You can see it.
“The entire country is expectant. I believe that you will not allow all the hours, all the days of your hard work to go waste. That’s why believe that when you go out of the tunnel tomorrow stay with the team, stay in the team’s spirit, stay in the team’s effort and play as a unit and when we play as a unit believe me we will win.” Says Kurt Okraku.
