Former Black Stars attacker and football manager Mohammed Polo has given his verdict on fetching out some local-based players from the Black Stars before Zimbabwe’s first clash in Cape Coast.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Fatawu Mohammed, Abdul Ismail Ganiu, and Samuel Ashie Quaye were among the local players invited to the team for the first leg against South Africa in Johannesburg but were dropped during Milovan’s call up for Zimbabwe double header.
According to the legend Polo, it is the right decision made by the team and the head coach because the team needs a competition.
“It is very right for fetching out those players because we need competition in the system and that is what the coach has come with even for him to use Amartey at the different position straining from his usual position shows clearly that the coach can transform things and look at the quality of the player and his presence. If he is capable of playing a different position then it is very important in football.
“For a coach to do that I have a respect for him.”
Polo told Isaac ghanasportspage.com after Ghana’s 3 – 1 victory over Zimbabwe. Ghana will on Tuesday afternoon play Zimbabwe for the second leg.
