Blacks Stars captain, Andre Dede Ayew, has said Coach Milovan Rajevac’s decision to bench him for Zimbabwe second leg clash was the right decision.
Dede who scored in a 3-1 win in the first leg was subbed on for the last five minutes in Ghana’s 1-0 win over the Warriors in Harare.
His omission from the starting lineup raised eyebrows because no one could anticipate the skipper been named among the substitutes in an important qualifying game.
Speaking after the win, the Al Sadd man explained that he was nursing an injury and thus the gaffer made a good call.
” I think the boss did the right thing [by benching me in the game]. We spoke about the injury I was nursing and I’m just so happy that we have the points.” he said as quoted by GTV Sports plus
Both Ghana and South Africa won their respective games, which keeps the race for top spot in Group G very keen.
Bafana Bafana lead with 10 points followed by the Black Stars with 9 while Ethiopia and Zimbabwe are on 3rd and 4th respectively with 3 and 1 point.
Ghana will face Ethiopia and South Africa in the next international break in November.
