On Tuesday evening at the Stamford Bridge was a clash between the ‘Pride London’ Chelsea and Southampton.
It was a contest between two English based Ghanaian players Mohammed Salisu and Hudson Odoi, the son of former Hearts of Oak player Bismark Odoi.
The performance of both teams was stunning but the performance of the away side was classic despite Chelsea playing in their own ground.
Kai Havertz took the lead for Chelsea on the 44th minute but Southampton came into the game putting pressure on Chelsea to level the game on the 47th minute courtesy Adams in the second half.
Southampton kept on mounting the ‘pressure on Chelsea’ at the last minute of the game but Kepa was unbeatable in the goal post and made a good saves. Chelsea nearly scored the winning goal but Forster denied that.
Both sides fenced their backyard firmly to prevent conceding that saw the game ending with 1 – 1 scoreline.
The journey ended for Southampton in the penalty shootout with 4 – 3 scoreline.
Theo Walcott, Will Smallbone and Mason Mount’s penalties were off target. Reece James scored the winner for Chelsea to send the London boys into the semi final stage.
Odoi scored against Norwich City in their 7 – 0 victory last weekend. He also scored in the penalty shootout for Chelsea tonight.
Chelsea are all the way into the next stage of the competition after drawing 1 – 1 with Southampton but winning 4 – 3 in the penalties.
