Communications Officer of Ashantigold, Mr. Eric Karikari has declared that they don’t panic or fear for any verdict concerning the match fixing scandal between their noble club and Inter Allies Football Club.
During the GPL season launch this week, the GFA boss Mr. Kurt Okraku revealed that the verdict for the match fixing scandal involving Ashantigold and Inter Allies will come out before the start of the season which can lead to suspension of the game between Eleven Wonders and Obuasi Ashantigold and could also lead to demotion of the Obuasi based club.
According to Mr. Eric Karikari, the PRO of the club, they are well prepared for the season and there’s nothing like panicking in the team concerning the awaiting verdict.
Talking to Ghanaian Sports Journalist Isaac Ganyo Tamakloe of ghanasportspage.com he stated “There’s is nothing like panicking concerning this issues. The team Ashantigold knows that we are clean. Checking on how the process is, it is not easy to say that the verdict will come out soon before the start of the league because we have our legal team. We made our appearance last week and after that they sent as another email that we should make another appearance the next day but we told them ‘no’.
“It is funny for people to say the verdict will come out before the season. Is like going to court. There are so many process when you go to court and it is the same thing happening. You know the Disciplinary Committee is different from the FA and they are doing their own work whilst we are also corporating with them. Even they are not done with the investigation for them to conclude and come out with the verdict. It doesn’t push us.
“We are part of the 18 teams to compete this season and we are well prepared for the season. It is not part of our problems.”
Ashantigold will play their first game on Sunday against Eleven Wonders in the just started campaign.
