Fearless Ghanaian boxer Richard Commey (30-3,27 KO) is banging on the opportunity to fight Vasiliy Lomachenko (15-2,11 KO) as an opportunity closer to a step in winning a second title, and indeed make his nation Ghana proud again. Commey has been thirsty for a title shot after a knockout victory over Lopez and the announcement of the Lomachenko bout billed for 11th December 2021 at the famous Madison Square Gardens quickly set him into serious training in preparation for the fight.
” I know that most people consider me the underdog ,but I am aiming to prove them all wrong and make Ghana proud once again”.
” Ever since the Lopez fight, all I have thought about is becoming a two-time World Champion. This fight against Lomachenko will get me one step closer to my goal. I thank my team of Michael Amo-Bediako, Lou DiBella, and Keith Connolly for getting me this opportunity. I also wish to thank Bob Arum and Top Rank for the opportunity to again grace the stage of Madison Square Gardens, one of the most Iconic Venues in the World “, insists Commey who has relocated to the USA from his native Ghana.
The venue however seem to excite Lomachenko more as he said
“It is always special when I fight at Madison Square Gardens, where so many great moments in my career have taken place. Richard Commey is a former World Champion, an opponent I will not underestimate. I expect the best version of Commey and I’ll be prepared for whatever he brings on December 11”.
Lomachenko, a former unified lightweight champion, and Commey, a former IBF Champion are seen as serious contenders and danger to all titleholders and the fight in New York City will produce a winner likely to fight next for a title. Per the rankings of several World sanctioning bodies, the winner is likely to become the mandatory challenger to the titles, which raises the stage even much higher in the fierce lightweight bout.
