Veteran Ghanaian coach J.E Sarpong has disclosed that playing against Ethiopia in Johannesburg, South Africa as a result of neutral ground won’t have any effect on the team in terms of qualifying for the World Cup.
The Wallias will host Black Stars at a neutral ground due to the ban on the Ethiopia national stadium, Bahir Dar Sports Stadium from hosting an international game and CAF competitions.
The Ghana Football Association appealed for a change of venue but the aforementioned venue still remains where the game will kick off.
Ghanaians feels like the venue will favour the home side but according to Coach JE Sarpong it won’t have any effect on the Black Stars but if you know how to play you can pick the maximum three points.
Speaking to Isaac Ganyo Tamakloe of ghanasportspage.com, Coach Sarpong says “Playing Ethiopia in neutral ground will not affect anything. It is football, if you know how to play you can penetrate.
“You have to focus, you have to motivate yourself psychologically. In Africa we believe in certain things. Now football has gone professional. Let me tell you that I had an information from Liberia that South Africans have tasked five coaches to monitor the Black Stars but playing in South Africa has nothing to do with them. They’ve already seen what they want to see. They should focus and go and play. He said.
