The matchday two of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League has successfully come to an end at the various stadia with a good news for Kotoko and King Faisal as they go unbeaten in two games.
The second week of the season kicked off on Friday late afternoon at the Red Bull Arena, Sogakope between the defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak and West African Football Academy (WAFA). The game saw the two sides sharing spoils with 1-1 draw. In week one, WAFA lost their season opener to King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium by a lone goal as Hearts of Oak draw Legon Cities in a goaless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium. Both teams are yet to win a game in the just started GPL season.
The Saturday soccer action saw Ashanti Gold handing a 1-1 draw to Karela United and Legon Cities trashing the GPL returnees RTU by 3-2 scoreline at the Accra Sports Stadium. The two games were played simultaneously.
On Sunday, Kumasi Asante Kotoko returned back to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium after 90 weeks with a tremendous second win of the season over Bechem United by 2-0 after putting up a scintillating performance at the last minutes of the game. Isaac Oppong contributed in Kotoko’s emphatic win as Abdul Ganiyu and Samuel Boateng seeking Kotoko through with the 2 goals.
King Faisal continues their unbeaten round after grabbing 3-1 away victory over Aduana Stars.
Dreams FC recorded their first win of the season after beating Elmina Sharks by 3 goals to 1 as a recorvery from their 3-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko last week whiles Accra Great Olympics did not pamper the newcomers Accra Lions whipping them by 3goals to 1 to grab their first win after 1-1 draw to RTU in Tamale last week. The day saw only Berekum Chelsea and Eleven Wonders ending with 0-0 results.
Bechem United were the heavy winners last week scoring four unanswered goals against Medeama at the Nana Gyeabour Park in Bechem but found themselves guilty in the hands of the Porcupines this weekend.
Bibiani Gold Stars with their 1-0 win in a GPL debut game over Berekum Chelsea were expecting to play Medeama SC but the game was postponed and has been scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, 9th November.
