Former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars player Eric Kwabena Bekoe who is currently the head coach of Montreal Fc, a division 2 side in Accra is pushing for coach Milovan Rajevac to use local players in solving Ghana’s inability to score more goals.
Bekoe in an interview on Wontumi radio in Kumasi said since the goals have been a major problem in the current Black stars team as it was shown clearly in their previous games against Ethiopia and South Africa, it would be best to give the local strikers the chance to exhibit their talent.
“We need goals to be able to qualify for the world cup in the playoff, so let’s give them a chance”, Bekoe said.
He is of the view that the nation had relied so much on foreign-based players who keep disappointing and suggested that several players have started scoring in the ongoing Premier league thus should be encouraged and pushed into the team. This he believes will build the confidence of the players who will also be eager to impress and breath fire on opposing defenders.
Bekoe was a local player with Kotoko when he was first invited to join the Black Stars after he win the goal king in the local league.
