The Ghana Premier League 2021/22 season will continue this weekend as Ashantigold welcomes the reigning champions Accra Hearts of Oak to the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium in an epic encounter on Week 4.

The Miners will hope to take a revenge after loosing the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup title to the Phoobians in a penalty shootout while Coach Samuel Boadu will also look ahead to wipe their winning drought after drawing all their opening three games.

These two teams have clashed in 15 games since 2012 with Hearts of Oak holding the highest winning record of 6 to the 4 of Ashantigold and 5 draws.

The last time these two clubs met in the Ghana Premier League was in March in the 2020/21 season a game that saw Ashantigold with a narrow win over Hearts of Oak.

The defending champions played out a goalless draw with Legon Cities in their title defence opener at home and were denied victory at WAFA two weeks ago when Sampson Agyapong cancelled out Kofi Kodzi’s first half strike before they were held 1-1 with Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With 4points, Ashantigold are found 10th on the table and Hearts of Oak are also found on 11th position with 3points.

Hearts of Oak is the only club to draw three times in their season opener in the just started GPL repeating their 2017 season opener performance after drawing their first three games.

ASHANTIGOLD

Deputy coach, Thomas Dua and Technical Director, Da Rocha will be at the flanks for Ashantigold following the departure of Ernest Thompson after a 2-1 defeat to to their regional rivals King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
