Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister said discussions are going on progressively for work to begin on the construction of a standard sports stadium in Sunyani, the regional capital.
She emphasised it was untrue the on-going rehabilitation of the Sunyani Coronation Park had terminated proposed construction of the sports stadium saying the rehabilitation works was to enable the coronation park to host the Division One League matches.
Mad Owusu-Banahene said this when she presented 10 packets of wire mesh valued at GHC4, 500 in support of the rehabilitation of the coronation park in Sunyani on Thursday.
Tano Boafoakwa, B/A United and Young Apostles, Sunyani-based FCs, as well as Baffour Awuah Soccer Academy at Nsoatre in the Sunyani West Municipality have qualified to play the Division League matches at the Coronation Park.
“We are holding discussions extensively with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In fact, we have made a lot of progress for the construction of a standard sports stadium to begin. Sunyani deserves it and we would continue to push our efforts”, the Regional Minister stated.
Mr Foster Kwame Opoku Boateng, the Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) thanked the minister, and appealed for more support, saying several works were to be done before the coronation park could host the division one league matches.
