The Match Review Panel of the Ghana Football Association has suspended referee Gabriel Opoku Arhin for six games following his erroneous decisions in Ghana Premier League Match Day 2 encounter between Asante Kotoko and Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The decision is based on referee Opoku’s failure to give a red card to Ismail Abdul-Ganiyu following a bad tackle on Emmanuel Avornyo in the 59th minute.
However, after watching the video of the match they both admitted that the decision from referee Opoku is the right decision
The panel admitted that referee Arhin failed to go with the law number 12 of the game which concerns Fouls and Misconducts and allows referees to rule out any player that uses excessive force which endangers the safety of an opponent.
Based on this, the Match Review Panel suspend referee Opoku Arhin for six games while the fourth referee also handed a four-match suspension.
