Gladson Awako, the Hearts of Oak player who has been at war with himself over “unexplained fear at Hearts” claims that Asante Kotoko has so far not played any big club thus should not be seen as doing anything extraordinary .
Awako told Accra based Hot FM that it is not late for Hearts of Oak to start mounting a serious defence of the league title and that fans of the club should be assured of a revamped campaign in the ongoing season.
The player was answering questions on his current predicament and the way forward after starting training with the junior team of the club he signed for few months ago.
It will be recalled that Coach Samuel Boadu has been unable to use Awako in the current season after the player suddenly left camp and stopped training with hearts for unexplained reasons.
Rumours were rife he was scared of some spiritual happenings in the Phobian family, which were denied at some points, amidst other reasons.
Added to this came to claim from his former club Gt Olympics that the player was still theirs thus the FA should allow Olympics to use him as Hearts breached parts of the contract .
The player then proclaimed that he wants to play football again but is not aware of which club he belongs to.
He however started training with Hearts junior team yesterday, as the seniors are in camp preparing for the Confederation Cup match on Sunday against JSS of Algeria .
Awako has dismissed the contention that Hearts are losing their grip on the title insisting that
“Kotoko are yet to play Hearts and other big clubs in the current league.
They will play hearts in the 7th Week and I am hoping to play at least a match before that ,and expect to feature if permitted against Kotoko”.
Hearts have Chelsea and Medeama as opponents before meeting Kotoko, who are leading the league table with 12 points ,having defeated Dreams, Bechem United, Goldstars and Wonders.
