Kumasi Asante Kotoko have tasted first defeat of the Ghana Premier League 2021/22 season after 3-2 home defeat to their rivals King Faisal’s in Kumasi derby.
The game was played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium where both play their home games but Kotoko played as the home side today.
The ‘Isha Alha’ boys were eager to beat Asante Kotoko to overtake them to be on top of the table despite having same points.
After 90minutes of soccer action, King Faisal have stopped Kotoko from extending their undefeating round to six.
Ibrahim Zubairu scored twice in the first half after scoring an early goal at the 4th minute and also scored at the 18th minute. Zubairu bounced back during the 68th minute to make it 3 for King Faisal.
George Mfegue had a consolation goal a minute after returning from the half time and pulled one back again with a header following Ibrahim Imoro’s crossing to put the Porcupines in the game.
Both teams have 13points but with goal difference, King Faisal tops the league while Kotoko are placed on the second position.
King Faisal will host Elmina Sharks in week seven at the same venue whiles Kotoko’s week seven Super Clash against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium has been postponed and new date is yet to be announced.
