The Phobians were in Algeria over the weekend to face JS Saoura in the second leg of the CAF Confederations Cup play-offs following their 2-0 lead in the first leg in Accra.
Although the club went into the game with an advantage from the first leg, they could not hold on and suffered a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of another North African.
As a result, Saoura has kicked Hearts of Oak out of the competition to book a place on the group stage.
The team is expected to return to Ghana on Friday to prepare for their 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League Match Day 6 encounter against Medeama.
Hearts of Oak shipped a total of 10goals in their net in the hands of the two North African clubs in just two games but kept a clean sheet playing at home.
In four games, the Phoobians won two at home and lost two playing away.
