Head coach for Kumasi King Faisal, Amadu Nurudeen has tactically revealed how his team managed to beat Asante Kotoko in the Ashanti Regional’s capital at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium despite not dominating as the toughest side.
King Faisal has become a first team to halt Kotoko’s unbeaten run in Week 6 after a four successful victories with one draw.
King Faisal had an early goal through Ibrahim Zubairu to come up as leaders before the second at the 18th minute to end the first half with 2-0 conformable lead. Zubairu scored a hatrick to extend King Faisal’s lead in the second half whiles Cameroonian striker George Mfegue stepped up with the two consolation goals.
King Faisal were not necessarily expecting for this victory as revealed by their gaffer, Nurudeen.
In his remarks after the 3-2 victory he explained, “…not necessarily because I told you that we six points are stake not more than three and then we were just playing to give them a good fight because we know that is a big club and we started the match as underdogs but we did the needful even though they played better, we did the needful.
“Being needful means that you sit back and then you take your chances and set for counter attack. We utilized the few chances we got and that has been the game plan throughout the week.” He said.
King Faisal have come on top of the league table as joint leaders with 13points after week six and will on week seven lock horns with Elmina Sharks at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
