Samuel Boadu’s side, Accra Hearts of Oak earned their second victory with a clean sheet against Accra Lions over the weekend in Week 9 of the GPL with a 2-0 result.
The reigning champions of the league struggled without a win in five games before the deadlock was broken in Week 8 courtesy of a debut goal from Gladson Awako.
The gaffer, Samuel Baodu has on his mind to maintain the standard of the team in the local league after eviction from the CAF competitions
“We were elated from Africa and this is the league we have to maintain the standard even though we didn’t start well but we hope and we believe that if we take match after match Hearts of Oak will come up. He said.
In his comment about the errors and the chances squandered by the team especially U20 star Daniel Afriyie Barnieh amid scoring the second goal, Boadu revealed “We Know even it happened in our game against Sharks but we are working on it and I believe that it will get to a time that they will all understand the movement and how to put the ball into the net.
The story changed in the second half after Kofi Kordzi came in from the bench to snatch the lead for the Rainbows. Elsewhere, a substitute Kojo Obeng Jnr was also involved in the Phoobians 2-0 victory.
“Is a good substitution as all coaches are expecting. If you bring someone in and make a difference that means we are working hard and Obeng was out quite due to injury but he is gradually recovering so he can’t start fully that’s why we brought him in the second half. He concluded.
