The Black Stars of Ghana will be in Doha, Qatar for preparations ahead of the AFCON 2021 scheduled for 9th January and February 6th in Cameroon.

Initially, the team was supposed to fly on Wednesday, 22nd December 2021 but they rescheduled the trip for today.

The team will prepare with a 30-man provisional squad until the submission of the final squad who will make the trip to Cameroon, Central Africa for the 33rd edition of the AFCON.

Currently, London-based Arsenal is in talks with the GFA and the Black Stars to extend their date of releasing Thomas Partey for the AFCON meanwhile Crystal Palace is yet to release Jordan Ayew whiles Reading duo Abdul Baba Rahman and Andy Yiadom are also expected to join the team in Qatar.

The team is likely to lose midfield controller, Mohammed Kudus who scored his debut goal against South Africa in 2019 during the qualifications in Cape Coast as the Netherlands top-flight Ajax are not ready to let him go. Elsewhere, Roma teenager Felix Afena-Gyan has rejected Black Stars call-up for the second time.

David Abagna (RTU), Richard Attah (Hearts of Oak), Fatawu Issahaku (Dreams FC), Philemon Baffour (Dreams FC), and Maxwell Abbey Quaye (Great Olympics) are the five local players among the provisional squad for the trip to Qatar.

Coach Milovan is expected to submit his final squad at least a week before the mundial while they are to touch down in Cameroon on January 5th to adjust to the environment before their opener.

Ghana will open its 40-years AFCON title challenge against the Atlas Lions of Morocco on January 10th, and play against Comoros and Gabon in Group C of the tournament.
