Despite being joint league leaders alongside King Faisal and Aduana, Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum Nartey is not a happy man and hopes his current predicament at Kotoko changes before the worse happens.
The coach insists the performance being churned out by Kotoko may not be the best but could be better had he had the opportunity to assemble his full squad. Injuries however are preventing the coach from implementing all his strategies in the current season.
“The injury situation at Kotoko is alarming, almost all my starters are injured. Agyemang, Ganiu, Mudasiru, Oppong, Boateng, Nettey, and others.
It hurts and it’s not helping matters but it won’t help to keep complaining. For example, we got a maximum of three points today. Is that not what’s more important? I am okay, the main reason for playing a league match is to get 3 points and Kotoko had it against Wafa”, said Ogum after he climbed up the ladder with a lone-goal victory at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Ogum had to draw strength from his bench with several changes in the second half including Emmanuel Keyekeh and a debut for Charles Owusu, while Sheriff Mohammed started as a full-back but ended as a central defender in the match.
Meanwhile, ghanasportspage.com is told that the medical team of Asante Kotoko is working around the clock to bring back the players on the injury list. A special budget is said to have been created to take care of the needs of the players and lessen the burden on the team. Kotoko plays King Faisal on Wednesday in an FA Cup and Aduana at Dormaa on Sunday in a league top-table decider.
