Catalan giants Barcelona FC and Aston Villa have agreed on a loan transfer of Philipe Coutinho from the Premier League outfit in the ongoing winter transfer window.
Coutinho’s loan move was agreed on Friday after a direct contact between Barcelona and Aston Villa. The deal will see the Brazilian reunite with his former teammate Steven Gerrard with whom he enjoyed a successful spell at Liverpool.
Gerrard, now the manager of Aston Villa, is happy to welcome Coutinho to the Birmingham based club, knowing what his capabilities are.
The deal is done and announcement is imminent from the two clubs within the day. Coutinho’s move to Aston Villa is a move in search for first team playing time. He intends to get more minutes and games to catch the eyes of Brazil coach Tite, with the aim of getting a call up to the national team for a place in the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
On the other side of the coin, Barcelona want to get him off their wage book so as to pave way for them to register Ferran Torres.
