As the African Cup of Nations 2021 tournament kicked start in Cameroon since the last 24 hours, connoisseurs of the game have already penciled down countries they consider favourites to lift the trophy, and Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu accordingly made his list, featuring a surprise candidate.
The 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner has named his country, Ghana among a list of five countries he believes are in a pole position to clinch the title.
In his list, Badu named defending champions Algeria among the favourites, including Senegal, Cameroon and Mali. Host nation Cameroon, are making their 20th appearance in the history of the African Cup of Nations, and had a good start of the tournament after coming from behind to beat Burkina Faso by 2-1 in the tournament opener on Sunday.
Speaking to Dada Oliseh sighted by ghanasportspage.com, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, 31, says the Indomitable Lions stand a chance of repeating the feat they achieved in 2017 in Gabon when they beat Egypt in the final.
According to him, The Pharaohs of Egypt are not favourites to win the AFCON this year, but he surprising believes that Ghana is in a better position to lift the trophy.
