The ongoing Africa Cup of Nations hosts Cameroon made emphatic statement of title contending intent by beating Ethiopia 4-1 to take a commanding ownership of their group.
The Indomitable Lions were awoken from slumber after Ethiopia took an early lead in the 4th minute of the game. The 2017 Champions of Africa however showed class when they staged a ruthless comeback to put Ethiopia to bed with a commanding 4-1 victory in the end.
Captain Vincent Aboubakar rose to the occasion again with a brace, making him the leading scorer of the tournament with 4 goals currently, after scoring twice from the spot in their opening game against Burkina Faso.
Karl Toko-Ekambi headed home the leveler for the Indomitable Lions after Ethiopia’s Hotessa Dawa had put his side in front. Forward Aboubakar scored twice minutes into the second half of the game after the first half had ended 1-1. Ligue 1 side Lyon star Toko-Ekambi made it 4-1 to complete the damage for the host nation.
Cameroon have now recorded a back-to-back wins in group A as they prepare for their last group match against Cape Verde.
The Indomitable Lions now lead the group on 6 points with a goal difference of 4. They have undoubtedly booked their place in the round of 16 stage of the competition, becoming the first team to do so in the 33rd edition of the AFCON.
