The quest for Ghana to have its football matches being played on good pitches continues to attract comments from stakeholders and observers of the game, with Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum being the latest to wail over the poor standard of pitches in Ghana.
Lots of complaints keep pouring in over the poor standard of pitches with venues like Dawu, Dormaa, Berekum, and even the Accra Sports Stadium being lambasted for their poor pitches which hinder the progress of football.
On a day Asante Kotoko drew goalless with hosts Chelsea at the Berekum Park, the Kotoko coach gave a damning verdict of the Berekum pitch and attributed the nonflowing of the game and lack of its beauty to the poor Berekum pitch.
“The pitch didn’t allow us to keep the ball on the turf, as you know Kotoko to be now, keeping the ball on the pitch and circulating “.
” The (Berekum) pitch is too bumpy and because of that we could not circulate well and treat our chances well, I will attribute it to the pitch “. Ogum protested sadly.
The FA has for various periods come under attacks for supervising competitive matches on the poor pitches, which has seen several players getting injured.
