The Black Stars has got themselves negative was on the lips of many Ghanaians after turning down the hearts of the nation at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations following their shocking defeat to Comoros Island and short elimination from the AFCON.
The unpleasing performance by the Black Stars has caused a lot of controversies in the nation, with many Ghanaians mocking and calling for dissolvent of the team, and also to show Milovan the exit door.
President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurts E.S Okraku has urged the nation to keep their hopes and support for the national team despite an unpleasing performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
Kurt Okraku speaking on Asempa FM’s morning Sports show claimed that the current players are those who are committed to serving the nation, those who made themselves available for the coach to select before the tournament, and those who dedicated themselves towards the national calls.
“Everybody has the right to pour out his or her heart and it is not for me to stop people from speaking what they think is the truth. In coaching, there are a lot of top-line managers who have failed in certain levels but made it in other ways. Rafael Benitez is one, Jose Mourinho is one. Am saying that we believed that Milovan was the right man that’s why we gave him the job. We believed.
“Our plans did not happen at the tournament, is unfortunate and this not what Ghanaians deserve. Ghanaians deserve a very very competitive team, a team that will bring glory to the country a team that will bring happiness to our people.
It didn’t work. Am saying am a leader of the family, I take full responsibility but also our collective responsibility to remain calm to support this gallant… or players who have offered themselves to serve our country.
They need support so they can grow and win trophies for Ghana. For those who were not ready to serve Ghana we cannot force them, of course, these are the players who have dedicated themselves to the national calls and who want to sacrifice even in difficulties, and am saying this group of players were ready to sacrifice their blood for Ghana.
It just didn’t work. Let’s support them because these are the best players we have at the moment. In five weeks we have World Cup qualifiers ahead of us what do we do to make sure the team bounces back into the right frame of mind and is competitive to cross that last line to take Ghana to the World Cup. This should be our concern and it’s important that in all we should just calm down support these groups because this is what we have. He said.
