Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Ibrahim Salifu set his eyes on his personal target for the ongoing 2021/22 football season after admitting that he has not been in the best of form this season for the Phobians, and still working hard to make amends.
Nicknamed “Di Maria” in the local league, likened to Argentina and Paris Saint Germain star Angel Di Maria due to his dummies on the field of play, Salifu enjoyed impressive season with his former club Eleven Wonders in the 2020/21 Ghana premier league season, where he featured in 14 games for Wonders, raking in 5 Man of the Match awards, 1 goal and 4 assists. Since completing his move to Hearts of Oak in the mid-season on Friday, February 26, 2021, Salifu continued with his off-feet blowing performance for Hearts of Oak, helping the club to win treble by the end of the 2020/21 football season.
However, the 21-year old midfield talent has not been in the best of form this season for the Phobians, and he has admitted to that. According to him, his best is yet to come this season but his main target on personal level is to bag more assists this season as much as possible.
During the 20201/22 MTN FA Cup Round of 32 matches played on Wednesday, Salifu put up arguably his best performance this season against second tier side Golden Kicks, when Hearts of Oak triumphed with a massive 5-2 win. In the game, Ibrahim Salifu assisted four (4) of the five (5) goals, and he hopes to provide more for his teammates going into the ultimate part of the season.
“Well this season I must say the form has not really come, but it is the assists that I want to be more”, Salifu said in a post match interview with StarTimes after the FA Cup game on Wednesday. “I had four assists today [against Golden Kicks), so that is what I’m working on now to make more assists”, he disclosed.
