Kumasi Asante Kotoko has smashed Tarkwa-based Medeama SC to secure a 1-0 vital win at home.
The Reds opened up widely for a victory following their week 13 resilient 0-0 draw against Berekum Chelsea last week.
Medeama also went into the game with a home draw against Olympics last week.
It’s was a return for Kotoko to the ground where they last humbled Ashgold 3-1 in the Asanteman Derby.
Kotoko took the game as a revenge for their 2-1 home defeat to the visitors last season.
The two teams touched down on the pitch with a minute silence in honour of Kotoko’s past Chairman, Yaw Bawuah who passed away last week.
Both sides widely played out a hard fought, closed the post for a goal in the first half.
Impressiively, Medeama handed the host a tough competition, played out a sublime performance but lost control at the 80th to drop points after Cameroonian striker Mfegue who has had a great and awe performance since joining the Porcupines steals the maximum points after a hard battle to win back a ball from the midway into the Medeama half with a splendid sliding tackle, geared up with an incredible shot into the far post.
The home sides had another opportunity to increase the tally through a penalty spotted by the referee at the 85th minute after Lamptey was heckled down in the box as he goes after a through ball but the goalkeepeer of the visitors denied Mfegue’s strike, stopped him from getting brace on the day.
Today’s win has extended the lead for the Reds on the table with 30points. Medeama is on the 5th position with 23points.
