The Scorpions of Gambia are through to the last eight of the competition after kicking out Naby Keita’s Guinea with a single goal.
Gambia’s merry run in the AFCON tournament continues, with the Scorpions reaching their first-ever quarter-final after a hard-fought victory over Guinea.
The Scorpions are eager to make history in Cameroon, having sealed a place at the last eight on their first ever appearance at the finals. Musa Barrow’s goal was excellent, seizing on a fine pass from Bobb, and Guinea could never produce anything quite as good as that. It ended with two red cards, and it was often bruising stuff but Guinea go out, and Gambia progress.
Liverpool’s Naby Keita and his team have failed to progress, putting the heart of their president, Mamady Doumbouya who gave them a strong warning before jetting off for the tournament.
Gambia will play a winner from the next encounter between Cameroon and Comoros in the last eight/quarter-final.
Comoros is also expected to make history as they go in for Cameroon tonight.
