The host were given a real scare by an incredibly gutsy performance from AFCON debutants but the Indomitable Lions moved into the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals with a 2-1 win.
Cameroon tried to keep clean sheet in the game but the debutants would not go away and Youssouf M’Changama pulled one back with a brilliant long-range free-kick that gave Comoros the chance of a miraculous comeback in the final few minutes.
Captain Vincent Aboubakar kept his foot(s) in his scoring boot to extend maintain his name as top-scorer after getting his sixth goal of the tournament.
Cameroon will face another debutants, Gambia in the last eight of the tournament to fight for the semis.
