Samartex 1996 extended their lead at the top of the Zone Two table to six points despite drawing 1-1 with Unistar Academy on Match Day 10 of the Division One League at the Swedru Park on Sunday.
Richard Kumi scored in the second half to cancel out Henry Lamptey’s first half strike as the contest ended in a stalemate. The result is a setback for Samartex who have had an astonishing start to the campaign after 10 matches into the season.
The Sameraboi based club have recorded 8 wins and 2 draws after 10 matches and sit at the base of the Zone Two table with 26 points – 6 points clear of second placed New Edubiase United.
In Cape Coast – Mysterious Dwarfs recorded their fifth win of the season with a 3-0 thumping of Asokwa Deportivo. The former Premier League side started the season in an unconvincing manner but recent results have pushed them up the League ladder to third.
They have accumulated 19 points after five wins, four draws and one loss. Former Dreams FC striker Richard Addai grabbed a brace before Nigerian import Emmanuel Ifeanyi added the third to complete the rout.
Also at Daboase, Skyy FC scored in either half to complete a 3-0 win against New Edubiase at the St. Martins Park. Baba Musah Hamadu scored first in the 33rd minute before Victor Eghan added the second on the hour mark.
With just about 8 minutes to end proceedings, Ebenezer Mamatah completed the cast with a low drive into the bottom corner for the third goal. The Division One Super Cup winners are now having a steady rise in the League table.
Another entertaining encounter in the Zone took place at Bekwai where Abubakar Gariba scored the only goal of the match as Bekwai Youth Football Academy beat Sekondi Hasaacas 1-0.
