Former Ghanaian international, Bernard Dong Bortey has urged Hearts of Oak boss Samuel Boadu to start Richmond Ayi ahead of Richard Attah for a while.
The former Hearts talisman singled out the performance of Ayi in the absence of Richard Attah due to his call up to the Ghana national team.
Ayi’s performance in the goal post for the past weeks has impressed the ex-skipper which has pushed him to tasked the Phobian managers to maintain him in the post for a while instead of Attah.
In the absence of Attah (before and during the AFCON), Ayi demonstrated a standout performance in six games despite conceding two defeats but he guided his side for three victories and two draws.
Dong Bortey analyzed the performance of the two shot-stopper’s during an interview with the CEO of ghanasportspage.com.
“Ayi has done his best in the absence of Attah. Although, Attah has returned but Ayi should be a starter because he is on top form. I am not with the coaches but we don’t change a winning team like this although Attah is number one but let’s have a look at Ayi small.
“I am saying this because Ayi is winning matches and that’s how a team is groomed, you can’t just change a winning unless the person is injured although am not a keepers trainer but if Ayi is having a great performance then they should abide by it because that’s what the likes of the late Jones Atuquayefio did.
“We were having three to four goalkeepeers but sometimes they start Lord Quartey the then fourth keeper.” Bortey analyzed.
The former Phobian star currently works with division two side Yasmin FC as a coach.
