Newly appointed Ashanti Gold manager, Henry Haeusler has opened up on why he was pushed for his new job as a manager for GPL giants, AshantiGold.
The Obuasi-based Premiership side has offered the German trainer two years contract as their new head coach.
Haeusler was in Ghana on November last to watch the game against AshantiGold and Accra Hearts of Oak in Obuasi where he developed a passion for Ghana football and his new club after an impressive performance to beat the defending champions by 2-0 at home.
Already, the German trainer has begun his job, had his first training with the team last week.
In a conversation with Ghanaian ace journalist, Samuel Addo the German tactician emphasized “It is quite surprising, I companied my wife. She has work to do in Ghana and she has to do that in last year October and November. Yeah, I was by chance at the end of October for the first time in Accra. I watched their game against Hearts of Oak in Obuasi and I was quite happy with what I saw. Very solid work, I think a lot of players were potential, I saw something I feel is good to the national level, there’s quite a little bit to do more because in intensity and working as a unity, teams are struggling a little bit about the job.
“I’m a defender, I’m a midfielder and I’m a forward and anything else this is the job of the others but you have to detect what you have to do as a player so you have to teach them a position which is defensive and offensive, what means in the team you have to work as a striker or as a defender you have to support your offensive forward. That’s the whole idea of soccer or football and you try to create and make changes to frustrate the other teams.” He said.
Haeusler is expected to be on the flanks for the Ashanti’s in the next fixture against Dreams FC in Obuasi while he has promised to build a formidable team within a short term.
