Coach Prosper Ogum side Asante Kotoko stand the most favourites among the remaining 17 clubs competing in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season to win the league title, according to Great Olympics coach Annor Walker.
Asante Kotoko opened a 7-point lead on the league table after beating Great Olympics by 2-0 on Friday. The Porcupine Warriors currently sit atop the league log with 33 points from 14 matches, and stand a chance of extending their lead should they beat Accra Hearts of Oak on February 20 in their rescheduled match.
In an interview with ghanasportspage.com, coach Annor Walker asked to point out a team he sees to be in a pole position to the win the league title this season per the performance of all the 18 clubs so far after 15 matches, and the Accra Great Olympics coach clear in his views that Asante Kotoko have all it takes to clinch the title with ease.
“With all the teams I have played against (with Great Olympics), honestly if I look at the performance of [Asante] and the [kind of] players that they have, if they do all things right I can say Kotoko can win the league”, Walker told ghanasportspage.com.
Walker explained his opinion further, saying that Asante Kotoko have not just got players, but have players with experience and matured enough to do anything good. To him, if only things are done well administratively, winning the league this season is something almost a done deal for the Porcupine Warriors.
“They have matured and experienced players, so all that is left is for the officials [of the club] to make it possible”, he concluded.
Asante Kotoko have not won the domestic league for the last seven seasons since they last won it in 2013-2014 season, but they now look much more favourites to win it again for the first time in about eight seasons.
