Local Black Stars coach, Annor Walker has provided updates concerning the local Black Stars’ preparations for the CHAN qualification ahead of the major tournament in May.
The team will soon resume camping but the GFA is yet to announce the date and venue for the Local Black Stars.
Ghana has emerged as runner-up twice out of their three appearances at the CHAN tournament.
The Local Black Stars came second at the 2009 African Nations Championship, and at the 2014 edition hosted in South Africa, Ghana reached the final again but lost in a penalty shoot-out to Libya.
Speaking to ghanasportspage.com, coach Annor Walker provided an update ahead of his team’s preparations for the qualifications.
“After Black Stars AFCON exit, I contacted the leaders and told them that the CHAN qualification will start soon so I want to know my programs they are having for me or they should notify me and start preparations.
“They told me that the competition will start in May so they will plan for me and at the end of this month (January) I will hear from them and see if I will do residential camping; like the players will come and train on Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday so after they will depart to their various clubs and play then they will return to training on Monday until the full camping and I will pick the players through that time, build a game plan, learn and study how we will play in our away games and how to play at home. That is what I normally do.
“I do my game plan for away before I plan for the home games and see how we play. I am expecting them, by next week I will hear from them.” He said.
Ghana missed out on the last edition held in Cameroon after leaving out the spot for Togo to qualify but Annor Walker aims to make amends to qualify the team for the upcoming edition.
