Former Zambia National team and Nkana FC goalkeeper Moses Mapulanga has died aged 29, club and family have confirmed.
The sad incident happened on Wednesday night around 23:00hrs at the Mazabuka General Hospital in the Mazabuka District capital, Mazabuka in the Southern Province of Zambia.
His former club Nkana FC announced the news via the club’s official facebook account on Thursday morning, which was later confirmed by Mapulanga’s father, Event.
“Its with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our former Goalkeeper Moses Mapulanga”, Nkana FC wrote via the club’s official Facebook page.
The late Mapulanga had been on admission at the Mazabuka General Hospital since Monday, January 31, and has now passed on sadly.
“His father, Mr Event Mapulanga has confirmed the death of his son who died last night around 23:00hrs at Mazabuka General Hospital, in Mazabuka where he was admitted from Monday this week”, Nkana FC’s statement continued. Cause of death remains unclear at the moment.
The 29-year old late glovesman Mapulanga, left Nkana in December 2021.
During his hay days, he rose from the junior ranks to the Zambia national team and was part of the Chipolopolo squad at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
