GPL debutants, Accra Lions shocked Medeama Sporting Club with a goal victory at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the Ghana Premier League Week 16 encounter.
The lads rally to claim their fifth GPL victory in their first ever clash with the Mauve and Yellow boys.
The debutants showed up hunger to break the deadlock following Fatawu Hamidu’s screamer of freekick at the 32nd minute to break their four games winless run.
The 1-0 leaves but them at the 12th position with 19 points whiles Medeama occupies the 4th place with 26 points.
Elsewhere, Kumasi King Faisal also drubbed GPL returnees, Real Tamale United at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium in 2-0 thriller.
King Faisal stretched their performance to bounce back to winning ways after four games without a win.
They lost to Eleven Wonders and Karela United by 2-0 scoreline before they were defeated by two city rivals Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics.
After they were held to the visitors in 0-0 draw in the first half, the Inshallah Boys battled for the lead at the 57th minute by David Oppong Afrane’s connector.
Enoch Morrison doubled the lead after connecting home a rebound from the goalkeeper following Attah Kusi’s wonderful delivery from the right side during the 75th minute.
After the full time of the encounter, Mawuli Wayo, an attacker for King Faisal was named as the Man Of The Match.
King Faisal are 3rd on the league log with 26points with the lads also occupying the 11th position with 19points.
