After two years absence, Sulley Muntari has returned to professional football after signing a year contract with GPL giants Accra Hearts of Oak since leaving Spanish side Albacete in 2019.
The former Black Stars winger who grew up in Ashanti Region of Ghana, decided to make a move to the rainbow family ahead of Asante Kotoko.
Many veteran footballers have praised the ex-UEFA Champions League winner including former Ghana and Hearts of Oak star Stephen Appiah for joining the Phobians.
Sulley Muntari left Ghana to continue his football career in Europe in 2001 from Liberty Professionals to join Udinese in Italy.
He was part of the Black Stars squad who reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa to make history for the nation despite the defeat on penalty shootout to Uruguay.
After the move to the GPL giants, Sulley stated “I just had to train or be in training with them. It’s good, I grew up in Ashanti but then I came to Accra for football and of course every young kid years ago grew up to see Hearts of Oak play great and is a top team; one of the biggest in Africa so am happy to be part it.” he said.
