Few minutes to kick off in the Ghana Premier League match week 16 game between Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics, the Phobians have finally revealed the squad of number of the club’s marquee signing, Sulley Ali Muntari, who has been named in the Hearts of Oak line up against their city rivals.
Sulley Muntari, UEFA Champions League winner with Serie A giants Inter Milan, signed a one year long contract with Accra Hearts of Oak in the second Transfer window. Hearts of Oak officially announced the transfer of Muntari to the club on February 1, with his squad number kept from public.
As coach Samuel Boadu named his starting XI of Accra Hearts of Oak to face city rivals Accra Great Olympics in the city derby dubbed “Ga-Mantse” derby,it has been revealed now that the Ghanaian international will wear the jersey number 10 at Hearts of Oak.
From his club football to the Ghana National team, the Black Stars, Muntari wears the jersey number 11, but with Yaw Amankwa Baafi already using the number 11, the veteran midfielder will have to now settle with the number 10 which is considered iconic jersey number in world football.
Muntari has been named on the bench in the game against Great Olympics, and he is expected to make his debut for the Phobians today.
