The GPL returnees, RTU will host the Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak come Sunday in a week 17 clash at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.

The coach of the Tamale-based club, Shaibu Tanko has provided injury updates on his team ahead of the game against the title holders.

After being relegated from the league in 2014, RTU sealed a promotion back to the Ghanaian top flight after beating Unity FC 2 – 0 on the last day of the 2020/2021 Division One League Season.

Speaking about the situation of the team ahead of Sunday’s clash, Coach Shaibu revealed challenges facing his side as they prepare to host the Phobians.

“We have some few challenges especially in the last five matches or so, I mean most of our players are injured but thank God they are recovering gradually, Shaibu told ghanasportspage.com in an interview.

“We are preparing as we prepare towards any other team so that is what is going on now at our camp.

“I already opened up our challenges but thank God they are back and we shall see what will come out on Sunday against Hearts of Oak.

We have David Abagna, Sadat, Hafiz and Ishmael. They are are four key players that will miss the game against Hearts of Oak but we are still waiting for our medical team to give us an update from hence if we can use them”, he said.

The Northern giants have won just five games, lost seven and drawn four this season, and have occupied the 12th position on the log with 19points.
