Home side Berekum Chelsea were held by regional rivals Bechem United to a 1-1 drawn game at the Golden City Park in match-week 17 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) in the ongoing season at the Golden City Park on Friday afternoon.
With the return of defender Anokye Badu and striker Kofi Owusu into the starting line up after missing out on the previous game against Dreams FC, coach Solomon Ojo went into the game with high hopes of winning the three points with his side, Berekum Chelsea, but the Hungers proved too strong to be beaten.
The home side took tookabsolute control of the game at the initial stages and dictated the pace by making so many approaches in the opening minutes but failed to unlock their visitors defence. It took 32 minutes into the first half before Kofi Owusu got the opener for Chelsea from a free kick taken by Anane to end the first half 1-0 in their favour.
Bechem United came back strongly in the second department having to grab the equaliser after Emmanuel Annor jumped high above everyone to connect into the net from Augustine Okrah’s cross. The game ended 1-1.
