Accra-based GPL side, Accra Lions has unveiled ex-Ghana U-23 boss Ibrahim Tanko as their new Technical Director of the club.
UEFA A-license holder Tanko has agreed on a contract and will start work immediately in the new role created to reflect the future ambitions of the club.
This is the first time Coach Tanko is having an engagement with a Ghanaian side having spent time coaching clubs in the German Bundesliga and Japanese J-League.
the last job was when he was handed the home-based Black Stars job but was replaced after five months by Annor Walker.
Tanko was named Black Stars deputy coach to Kwasi Appiah in 2017 and spent two years with the team.
He was later appointed Ghana U23 coach and qualified the team for the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt, for the first time in 12 years.
But the Black Meteors missed out on qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after a penalty shout defeat South Africa in the third-place match.
