Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has claimd that the national team players represent the country for the love of money but not for pride.
The gaffer who, doubles as the Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency, believes that the Ghana national team will continue to suffer when the money leads.
The palpable anger of many Ghanaians is not because the Black Stars is failing to win a trophy that has eluded them for the past four decades, but the money is one of the major factor.
“When we make money the reason for players to play for the Black Stars and not play for pride, then we are going to suffer for long”. Hon. Vanderpuye revealed on GTV Sports+ ‘Saving Our Passion’ show
The Ghanaian public had been worried over the team’s abysmal performance at the recent AFCON in Cameroon.
Ghana, after confirming their qualification to the play-offs of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, will host Nigeria at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on March 24th for the first leg.
