The Match Review Panel of the Ghana Football Association have imposed a 12-match ban on a referee of in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) for a wrong decision taken against Medeama Sporting Club in the week 16 of the ongoing season, and many believe the decision was a draconian one for the referee.
One may or may not agree with the Review Panel, after watching the goal that referee Assistant referee Banabas Amenyo ruled out for an offside, which led to the home side Medeama’s 1-0 defeat to Accra Lions. The gravity of the offence may make the punishment a deserving one, or one that can serve as deterent to other officiating officials in the domestic league.
