All roads lead to the Accra sports stadium come Sunday as the biggest football clubs in Ghana, Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko play it out in the rescheduled match week 7 fixture of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League (GPL) first round, and Hearts of Oak Abdul Aziz Nurudeen identifies one particular reason for which the Phobians must win the tie.
Nurudeen tells Joy Sports’ George Addo Jnr that it is incontrovertible fact that Asante Kotoko have galloped far above Hearts of Oak, sitting atop the league log, but his side are more than determined to climb the ladder with all relentless efforts to narrow the gab and possibly seek to leapfrog the Porcupines to the summit of the league log.
The workerholic midfielder believes that the even a draw against Asante Kotoko on Sunday will do the Phobians no good, and they are prepared to squeeze water out of stone to amass the three maximum points against their greatest rivals.
“We are very determined because, if you watch the game [against RTU] it’s supposed to be a win for us and we drew. So we have no excuse than to win that game for our families, our friends and our loved ones as well as our fans”, Nurudeen insisted, speaking to the JoySports reporter in a one-on-one interview following the Hearts of Oak draw against RTU last Sunday.
“We can’t consider to lose that game [against Asante Kotoko], even a draw for us is not good. It’s true that they are flying, but we are supposed to catch them up, and with this three points if we are able to get it we are on the verge of catching them, but if we don’t get it it’s not good at all. So we are focused on that game to get that three points”, he concluded.
Hearts of Oak will host their greatest rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday at 3:00pm at the Accra sports stadium.
