Former captain and former head coach of Nigeria Women’s national football team, Florence Omagbemi has successfully found love again to the glory of God, and has been wedded on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
The colourful marriage ceremony of the AFCON winner, Florence, took place at the Nneoma Coliseum Event Palace of Delight 24 Deco Road in Warri, Della State. Florence, daughter of the late Mr Aaron Koni Omagbemi, tied the knot with her now husband, Mr Kehinde Richard Oluyemi, son of Mr Richard Oluyemi of Ilawe-Ekiti South West L.G.A of Ekiti State.
The 47-year four (4) times African Women’s Championship [now Africa Women Cup of Nations] winner has finally found love again, enough grounds to shake off any pains and shattering memories from the death of her first husband, who sadly died in 2009 out of illness.
Florence Omagbemi till the time of writing, is the only Africa woman to have won the Africa Women’s Cup of nations as player and as a coach, after she successfully guided the Super Falcons as head coach to win the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of nations trophy in Cameroon. The February born Florence, was born a leader, having captained almost every team she played for in her footballing career, right from the Ufuoma Babes football club of Warri which she was a founding member to all her professional playing days, climaxing it with the Nigeria Women’s senior national team, the Super Falcons.
Possessing excellent talent in football, right from playing with boys till she turned professional, Florence earned her first national team call up to the Super Falcons in 1991 at the age of 15, where she played till 2004, and the rest is history.
Florence Toritseju Omagbemi, Skippo as she is affectionately called, may hail from Warri South Local Government Area of Delta state, but has her ancestry trace to Ghana, where her maternal grandfather hails from. Her late mother’s father hails from Accra, Ghana, making Florence too a partly Ghanaian descent.
It’s the month of love, the month of February, which happens to be Florence’s birth month, born in February 1975, now, on this day, Saturday 19th February, 2022, she is wedded.
