Asante Kotoko manager, Prosper Narteh Ogum has cautioned his squad to step up their performance for the second round of the Ghana Premier League following their 0-0 stalemate with Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The draw was a fully deserved reward for an excellent display from both sides.
Obeng Junior missed the Rainbow’s best chance in the first half when he hit the post.
Kotoko, however, has arguably the better opportunities to win the league.
The Warriors display on Sunday, full of steel and discipline as well as attacking intent despite the draw.
Hearts were the happier side, although they will feel irritated they could not get three points to close the gap after the first round.
Coach Prosper Ogum insists there’s a lot in his men but they need to step up their performance for the next round of the league because the performance of the youngmen is yet to satisfy him.
“First round is over. As I always tell my players, you can never satisfy me. Is not about arrogance but as a coach and I see the quality in you I will tell you where you have to be at a certain point. And I think that there’s a lot in this young gentlemen am working with and they can do better so we have to step up because another seventeen matches are to be played. We need to step up so that we stay at the top and make sure that we don’t drop point.” Says Ogum.
The Porcupines are sitting at the top of the league with 37points whiles their bitterest rivals sit at the 7th place with 25points.
