Accra Hearts of Oak legendary goalkeeper Sammy Adjei leads a list of 41 other active and retired footballers currently undertaking a Ghana Football Association (GFA) organised Residential License D Coaching Course for the Greater Accra Region taking place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram, the GFA has announced.
Another prominent figure undertaking the coaching course is Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako who joined the club recently from city rivals Accra Great Olympics. Awako joins Sammy Adjei, former Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper among 40 others.
The GFA Coaching Instructors and Coach Educators including the Technical Director, Bernhard Lippert and Director of Coaching Education, Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah are the personnel supervising the course.
According to the GFA, “Participants will be taken through some key areas which include growth and development of young footballers, methods of coaching and cardio vascular resuscitation/administration of first aid”.
The course, which began last Sunday, is expected to end on Sunday, February 27th 2022. Awako becomes the second active player in the Ghana premier league to participate in the this aspect of coaching course, after Aduana Stars striker Yahaya Mohammed did same during the Brong Ahafo Regional coaching course to obtain his coaching badge
