Ex Ghana national U-17 scout, David Kwame Amoah has died on Saturday after battling with prolonged illness.
The former football scout has been struggling with with kidney failure over the years, and came to a point where only transplant was the available position to save his life.
In April 2020, Amoah is quoted in a news publication by ghanaweb.com, referencing footballghana.com, that the late football coach had granted interview with Accra based radio Asempa FM, where he appealed to the general public and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for financial assistance to cater for the transplant.
“I have kidney complications and will need a transplant. I don’t have the money to undertake such an exercise,” Amoah is quoted as saying on Asempa FM in a ghanaweb.com report in April 2020.
“The Ghana Football Association is aware but am yet to hear anything from them.
“I will appeal to the GFA to come to my aid and other well-meaning Ghanaians to offer financial support so I get well.
“It’s been very difficult for myself and my family as we are financially stretched. I need help.
“Doctors say the only way out is a transplant and that requires huge sums of money”, the quote concluded.
Amoah was Appointed head coach of Ghana Premier League side Aduana Stars in February 2016, but failed to work for the Dormaa based club due to his condition.
Amoah had been on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, where the transplant was recommended.
It is unclear whether he got the needed financial assistance for the transplant to take place until his sad demise on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
