Ghanaian top rapper Sarkodie paid a visit to Kumasi-born Mohammed Salisu who plays his club football for Southampton in the English Premiership.
The award-winning rapper was in attendance as the Blues recorded a 2-0 win over the French side, Lille in the first leg of the last 16 tie in UEFA Champions League on Tuesday after getting a free ticket from Chelsea player Reece James.
On Saturday, Sarkodie also paid a visit to Mohammed Salisu who has refused to pick up the call from the GFA to represent the Black Stars at the senior level.
Many Ghanaians believe Sarkodie will discuss with Salisu to accept the call up to represent Ghana but the conversation is yet to be disclosed.
Born in Kumasi, Salisu started his career at his local youth club Kumasi Barcelona Babies before joining West African Football Academy in 2013. He left the latter for personal reasons in 2015 and then remained over a year without a club before impressing on a trial at the newly formed Nsawam branch of the African Talent Football Academy in March 2017. In October 2017, he joined Real Valladolid’s youth setup and had the opportunity to shine in Europe.
The 22-year old center-back had his first call up in 2019 to the Black Stars under Coach Kwasi Appiah for the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe but he withdrew from the squad as a result of injury. Salisu has been approached several times to play for Ghana but the defender is yet to respond.
