Accra Hearts of Oak sealed a 2-1 triumph over WAFA on match-day 19 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
Obeng Junior gave Hearts of Oak the lead just after the recess but the academy boys claimed a 55th minute goal courtesy Henry Owari to restore parity.
The GPL title holders fought back to get the winning goal through a penalty won by a substitute Patrick Razak which was coolly converted by Ex-Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari to hand Hearts the maximum points at the 74th minute.
Razak tried to drive away with the ball but goalkeeper Osei Bonsu brought him down in the box.
The Phobians had a golden opportunities during the first half of the game but they couldn’t step up with the lead before the recess until the 46th minute strike from Obeng Junior.
The triumph ended the club’s four games winless run in the GPL, having defeated by Olympics and drawn three times.
Today’s victory has lifted the Phobians to the fifth position on the league log with 29 points.
WAFA are struggling to rescue relegation as they sit at the 17th position with 18 points.
