Asante Kotoko recorded their biggest win in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) in the ongoing 2021/22 season after humiliating new entrants Bibiani Gold Stars by 5 goals to nil at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors were at their best against the self-confident Gold Stars, handing them the baptism of fire since their entry into the elite division. The 5-0 defeat is the heaviest defeat Bibiani Gold Stars have received in the hands of a premier league club since their promotion into the top flight at the commencement of the 2021/2022 GPL campaign.
Coach Michael Osei’s side just didn’t have solutions to the might of coach Prosper Ogum’s side, as they inflicted on them a defeat that would leave a deep scarce on their image.
Cameroonian forward George Mfegue opened the scores for the home side in the 31st minute, before doubling his tally six minutes later to make it 2-0 for the Porcupine Warriors. Goals from Augustine Agyapong, Frank Mbella Etouga (Penalty) had already put the damage beyond repairs for the visitors, but ruthless Samuel Boateng would have no mercy as he pounced in the 86th minute with yet another beauty of a striker to complete the job by a resounding 5-0 victory for the home side.
